Studio XPS 8100, Windows 10 not installing

I would like to install Win 10 on my XPS 8100.  I have a legal copy of Win 10 Home and a license key.

The install gets so far and then displays a message stating that I need to get the latest setup.exe.  I have done this but the problem persists.

I checked the Dell website and the found that the XPS 8100 has not been tested by Dell for Windows 10.

Can this be worked around, or am I just out of luck here?

Google the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and use that to make a bootable USB drive with the latest version of Windows 10.

You may have to do a clean install, not just an upgrade.

Read this thread.

Thanks. This worked for the most part. I now have Windows 10 running on the PC. The only issue that I have hit so far is that the Ethernet and Bluetooth module is not recognised (i.e., when I open Device Manager they are not present). I think this is down to missing drivers. The Dell website only has Win 7 drivers available for the module.

I'm not too worried about the Ethernet. I connect to the Internet through Wi Fi (running an ethernet cable from the router would be inconvenient). I would like to get the Bluetooth running.

Here's a thread with link and instructions to install a driver for the Ethernet adapter in the Studio XPS 8100.

And here's a thread about the Dell Bluetooth 365 in this PC model.

thanks for this. I installed the driver per the link that you gave. Both headsets now connect to the bluetooth on the PC. However, headset 1 (Bose) although connected gets no sound. headset 2 (Sennehieser) connects and gets audio but it is broken/distorted.

Do you have to go the Win 10 Sound page and change settings?

This PC model lists 2 Creative sound apps for Win 7. Do you have to find a Win 10 version of either/both of those, or maybe try installing them by setting their Compatibility Mode in Win 10 for Win 7..? Be sure to manually set a System Restore point before installing either of them.

Did Win 10 install an audio driver? Look in Device Manager.
