XPS 8300 network speed
I have an XPS 8300
according to network connections there is a Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet not in use
according to network connections there is an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter in use
I recently upgraded my modem to Netgear CM1150V
My Xfinity plan gives me up to 800 mpbs service
Speedtest on my desktop hardwired tops out at 250 mpbs
Yet, my iPad on wifi gets 500 mpbs
any thoughts? settings on the Intel adapter that need to be changed?
thanks very much

Netgear CM1150V is a DOCSIS Cable Modem.
You can turn off live tile, background nonsense and Kill IP6 and it will get faster.
Test before and after with the AD free speed test
https://www.bing.com/widget/t/speedtest
Must be done from ADMIN Command Prompt.

netsh interface teredo set state disabled
netsh interface teredo show state
netsh interface ipv6 isatap set state state=disabled
netsh interface ipv6 isatap show state
netsh interface ipv6 6to4 set state state=disabled undoonstop=disabled
netsh int ipv6 6to4 show state
netstat -b -o -a -r -n
don't post results with addresses
If you see a lot of addresses here its because windows is configured to peer update strangers on the internet and other nonsense like live tiles, weather app, etc.
Cable Providers Promise blazing speed but they throttle you and the more people on the slower it gets.
Thats why FIOS beats Cable all day every day.
QOS packet scheduling and bandwidth aggrigation for over provisioned cable (Kind of like the airlines overbooking flights). I actually orderd FIOS and had it installed right along side Cable so that I could test speeds to various sites. When I first got cable I was the only one who had it. After less than 2 years it got slower and slower and slower. When I called and complained they opened up the pipe and tried upselling me higher and higher bandwidth (Increasing the monthly fee) to the point where it went from $60 a month to $400 with "triple play" Not willing to be tricked like this again I ordered bare fios.
No phone, No TV, Just internet. Low and behold my bill went back to $56 a month guaranteed for 2 years. It will always go up but your answer is always If you keep hiking it every year Im going to the other vendor. They will then sell you a "discount" for another year and try again later.
