XPS 8700, No boot device available
Hello I have a XPS 8700 that I purchased in 2015. Has BIOS A9.
After working perfectly for 5 years, I saw for the first time the following error message as I sat down tonight:
No boot device available.
SATA 0: None
SATA 1: Installed
SATA 3: None
SATA 4: None
SATA 5: None
Strike F1 key to retry boot, F2 to run the setup utility
I have hit F1 - nothing
I have hit F2 and loaded the default setting and saved and exited - nothing
Any ideas? Would be much appreciated!!
I noticed I have BIOS A9 and have seen some some folks are saying this needs to be upgraded to A11?
I don't know how to do any of this...sorry not a techy

Assuming the drive on SATA 0 has not went bad.
First thing is to reseat (unplug and plug back in) the data and power connections to the drive (rear of drive).
If that doesn't help, Do a complete BIOS (CMOS Memory) reset. With the PC powered off, open the case and remove the CR2032 coin cell battery for at least 10 minutes. Reinstall battery and power on. Actually, 5 years is lifespan of the CR2032 battery so it would be a good idea to just replace it.

if SATA0 zero , mine blue jacked, and if HDD is there and the motor is silent it is dead.
if you remove the 2 cables to it, power /data AC line pulled., and put them back and the HDD rust drive is silent
it is a dead drive, and super common this old, 5 year mark is EOL for many cheap HDD.
I test the drive fully that is not booting, tools for that vary, if no ePSA tests in older PCs. but if yes use the hdd test in the built in ePSA diagnostics,./

tell first what is inside PC first. for sure SATA. and all PCI-cards, even odd things on USB ports.
the HDD is bad I guess, I run HDD tests first. on all PCs that act ODD, (ignoring this can cause endless going nowhere first , endless wasted time and labor)
6 year old PC, the RTC battery is toss coin good. 5-7 year range is life span, pink bunny spec.and copper top.
Id up grade it to SSD, and not blink an eye, why run RUST drives in year 2019, if is in fact a spinner to boot.
