XPS 8900, Start Up Issue

For the last few days my XPS8900 (new 2016) and a flawless performer to date has developed a start up issue which may have corresponded with a recent W10 update from Microsoft.

Pressing the power button computer comes on and Dell logo appears on the screen. However, nothing else appears to happen. If I power off and then switch on it powers up as normal - logo - rotating symbol blow logo and then works.

Any ideas what is causing this? Recent windows update or another problem developing?

Thanks

John

@JHL Liverpool The Fast Startup problem is not new. I encountered it some time ago. See this article about Fast Startup that was updated in 2017: https://www.howtogeek.com/243901/the-pros-and-cons-of-windows-10s-fast-startup-mode/

Try turning off Fast Startup. Go to 'All settings', 'System', 'Power & sleep', click on the 'Additional power settings' link on the right, click on 'Choose what the power buttons do', and then under 'Shutdown settings' uncheck 'Turn on fast startup (recommended)'.

Thank you your solution has worked and computer now starts immediately if not somewhat slower.

I would be interested know the reason why this problem has suddenly occurred if anyone knows.

But anyway thanks again.

Thanks for that - very interesting - obviously been a potential problem for a while but has only recently surfaced on my PC. I guess I can wait a bit longer!
