XPS 8920, front panel connection diagram

Does anybody have a diagram of how I’m supposed to connect the front panel connectors? I moved the parts to a new case.

The Dell front panel connections have always been proprietary and undocumented.

There are some diagrams made by users on the web for various models.  Do a search and if you are lucky you will find something for the 8920.  And, it must be for the 8920 as it can (usually does) vary from one model to another.

I am very interested in how this turns out for you.  I took a look at the back of the case of an XPS 8930 and saw that the IO panel on the rear is part of the chassis.  How were you able to integrate those rear connectors into the back of your new case?  Is there a huge gap where the IO panel and plate should fit?

Flip this diagram upside down and you have the pinouts.  It is pretty much industry standard.   There is a little variation as there is no HD LED or Reset button on the current XPS models..

XPS 8920 case looks like on my XPS 8930 and the connector is used for the power on button.  Not sure if cable is proprietary or can be rewired.

Edit:  On the XPS 8930, other than the USB 3.0 and 2.0, card reader and audio cables from the Top IO area of the case which look to be industry standard and plug into the motherboard,  the only other IO cable you would have to deal with would be the power cable that plugs into the motherboard.  The connector on the Dell motherboard looks to be just the power and led to the power switch. Not sure if it is proprietary as there are just 4 wires that come from the power button up top and plug into the motherboard just left of the M2 connector.  There is no HD LED or reset button. There is a jumper between 5 and 9 on my XPS 8930.

Keep us posted on how it is going.

Edit:  Took a closer look at the XPS 8930 connectors and are shown here...Should be similar to the XPS 8920.
