Update = After confirming warranty and ownership, Dell agents troubleshot the issue and then setup the service.

I moved this to the correct forum section (XPS Desktops).

That error code indicates the system drive is failing.

First thing to do is do a full disc image backup (all partitions) to another drive, using the free (and popular) Macrium Reflect.  This will preserve everything if it does crash, and  allows you to restore everything to a new drive.

Also run the disc hardware diagnostics, accessed from F12 at power on.

Thank you for the response

I copied the c drive using Macrium to an external TB drive as soon as I had the first 0151 message.

But what I don't understand is Dell's promise to replace the SSD drive and motherboard along with a technician sent to my location - then nothing.  They seems so incompetent - and frankly untruthful.

Premium Support - what a joke

You want more than the "C" drive.  You need the entire drive, all partitions.  One partition is the boot, another Dell diagnostics, etc.

I can't help you with support.  I guess I've been lucky not to have a warranty problem.

Post the lack of support in this forum section.

Probably would not hurt to also simply file-copy any important files to a flash drive.

After system is repaired, I suggest you:

- Clean-install Windows-11.
- Do Windows first-time setup
- Make sure Device-Manager is clean and free of errors
- Reinstall your programs again
- Restore the files on your flash-drive

If you use the Macrium Reflect Image-File (Backup), just restore the important files/folders (usually to a temporary location). I would not recommend using that Macrium-Image to completely re-image the new system as it sounds like it was created on a system with a failing drive.

We are just users helping users here. Best way to get Dell Premium Support to come to your residence or small business, is to give them a call and explain the situation. Sounds like there was some mix-up.

A comment on a BIOS update.  As there is a potential for corruption as in this case.  Only consider a BIOS update if it applies to your situation - fixes a problem you are having, supports new hardware you want, etc. Otherwise the BIOS is not needed.

Newer Dell's have BIOS recovery options in case of a corruption.

Someone suggested to reinstall Windows 11. What OS do you have?

The XPS 8930 came preinstalled with Windows 10. Did you upgrade to Windows 11? Also, you should have them send you the SSD and replace yourself. It is very simple to replace. Just make sure the tiny screwdriver you use for the m.2 screw is magnetized. Dell will also send you an imaged drive they always do. But you can wipe the drive using disk part before you restore your image.

1. If they have the skills, true.

2 & 3. Since current SSD is failing, I would not trust the integrity for a complete re-imaging. Just grab your important data files.

If it is still on Windows-10 (and you are clean installing Windows anyway) .   all the more reason to go ahead and install Windows-11 instead, now. 2025 will be here before you know it.

Thank you for the response.

Windows 10 I did not upgrade.

Image or Not to image that is my question

Suggestion on how to get the SSD sent?  They made that promise earlier but sent the wrong drive - D drive is not an SSD. So I called - the agent promised a technician with a new motherboard and SSD but that never happened.

I dunno what is going on with Dell but they seem rather incompetent.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks again

Horrible support from Dell. Premium Support extended warranty - 0151 code - SSD failing. Support Assist not connecting to the internet.

Over an hour with Support - In the Phone conversation the agent said that they would send out a technician to replace the motherboard and SSD.  It's been more than a week since that promise was made - no schedule - no response - no contact - a lot of lip service.

Well over 4 hours on 3 different 'chats' trying the same thing over and over again. Sent the issue up a higher tier and promised a response in 24-48 hours.  Three days later no contact -  no response - just lip service.

Dell has problems!

Check the BIOS Setting

The BIOS Setting can be checked to know if it has been affected. If there is any noticeable change, then don't hesitate to reset it to default settings just by:

Step 1: Rebooting the Dell computer, and ensure you press F12 continuously to have access to BIOS settings while the reboot is in process.

Step 2: The next step is to choose Load Default or any closely related option. Then press Enter to reset the BIOS settings.

Step 3: To make the changes effective, press F10.
