XPS 8930, Micron memory?

Probably a silly question but I’m looking to add 16GB RAM to my current 16GB.

Dell indicates that these two (among others) are compatible. The “H1” version is what I have two of in my system now. The “E1” seems be be more common. Can anyone explain what the possible difference is between them and if there are any potential side effects of mixing them? Thanks

mouser says MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1 is "end-of-life".

You can buy compatible RAM directly from Crucial (a Micron brand) for XPS 8930. Their 2x 8 GB kit is $35, which is cheaper than Amazon is offering 1x 8 GB Micron MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6H1.

If Crucial offers RAM for a specific PC model, they guarantee it's compatible or they take it back at no cost to buyer.

From the look of it, all Micron/Curcial 2666 mhz ram may be EOL.  That doesn't concern or surprise me that much, I'm just looking for a good match.  I know the 2666 is the fastest that the 8930 will run so I was trying to stay with that even though I know it will down clock the 3200.

Do you know anything about the differences between the "H" and the "E" versions?  I can get a used pair of the E type pretty cheap.

You could look for their spec sheets and/or contact Micron tech support directly...

Re:  Do you know anything about the differences between the "H" and the "E" versions?

Similar as other products,  RAM and SSD manufacturers use the suffix to identify date codes, country of origin for retail products and OEM assignment for OEM customers.

Example for Samsung OEM SSD:  MZVKW1T0HMLH-000D1 was assigned to Dell, while MZVPW256HEGL-000H1 was assigned to HP
