XPS 8930 motherboard into XPS 8920 case?

I have an XPS 8920 with an i7-7700K motherboard. Can I remove that motherboard/processor and replace it in the same case with an XPS 8930 i7-9700 motherboard/processor?

I want to use the same installed drives and power supply, etc. I want to use a Nvidia RTX 2060 6GB. How hard is it to make the swap? Thank you.

@larryl4    How hard is it to make the swap?

Physically making the swap would be easy as both mobo's are microATX format and the cases are identical. However, note that the 8930 mobo uses the Z370 chip set, whereas the 8920 mobo uses the Z270 chip set. The 8930 BIOS is conducive to 9th Gen Intel processors.

The OEM PSU is a 460 watt, and the Nvidia RTX 2060 6GB requires a minimum of 500 watt PSU. Consider a Seasonic Focus series 850 watt fully modular PSU. That is an easy swap.

@Anonymous has it covered.

The only thing that is different between the two machines is the IO panel on top and the front bezel.  The XPS 8930 has the USB Type-C port the XPS 8920 does not.  Bring the IO panel and the existing bezel on the XPS 8930 to your XPS 8920 case and you should be okay.

There is a chance that the lower blue USB header on the XPS 8930 motherboard would allow the regular USB port on connector from the IO panel of the XPS 8920 but we did find that it was very finicky and needed that USB Type-C connector there for it to post without a IO Panel error at startup.

Otherwise swap to a better case since you are going thru all the trouble.
