XPS 8930, super slow processor
Bought a dell XPS 3 months ago and it is running slower than my laptop bought 5 years ago !! Even games like Starcraft 2 lags while I had never any issues on laptop.
I tested the performances with userbenchmark and it says the processor is ridiculously slow (i.e. performance way below expectations, 0th percentile)
this is my basic config. Help please, this is very frustrating. thanks all

I suggest that you open Task Manager and take a look at the Performance tab to see if there is high CPU, Memory, Disk, Ethernet, or GPU utilization. It there is, then take a look at the Processes tab to see which process(es) is the problem. You could also go to the Startup tab and Disable some or all the Startup applications and reboot to see if that helps.

Thanks, I monitored while using the test (userbenchmark) and the CPU utilisation went at max 24% while still having an extremely poor result. All the other parts are rated from very good to outstanding. Also, while playing starcraft 2 and experiencing massive lag, neither the CPU nor GPU were breaking a sweat (like more than 10% usage). Cant figure where this is coming. Greg

Control panel->power options
make sure it’s not set to power saver

thank you. I found this, which I suspect refers to the 460W PSU: ASSY,CHAS,L6,460,EPA,ODD,VM,V1
Also, while running the dell full test, I noticed my CPU utilisation never never goes above 26% / 0.78Ghz. It reaches 26% then flat-lined as the tests are going on, then go down. So clearly, something is preventing the CPU to use more than 26%, hence the low performance.
Does anyone know what can cap the CPU?

And check in BIOS setup to make sure SpeedStep is enabled too.
