XPS 8950, does not wake from sleep

And one more thing...

Open BIOS setup and make sure USB Wake Support is enabled there too.

Some Power plan settings may need adjusting...

Reboot PC and open Device Manager. Expand list under USB. Double-click each USB entry and click its Power Management tab, if it has one. Uncheck the box "Allow PC to turn off...". And if available, check the box "Allow to wake..." Repeat for all USB entries.

Expand list under Human Interface Devices in Device Manager and do the same thing for all entries with "turn off" and "wake" boxes on the Power Management tab, if it has one.

Expand list under Keyboards and do the same thing again.

Expand list under Mice and pointing devices and do the same again.

Next, open the Windows Power & Sleep screen. Click Additional Power Settings. On next screen identify the active Power plan and click Change Plan Settings. On next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings.

On that last screen, disable Hibernation, Hybrid Sleep, USB Selective Suspend, and PCI Express Link State Management. Save the changes to the Power plan and reboot.

did all this and problem persists.  used to work ok, but i've made a few changes and now it doesn't work.  thx.

Would help if you tell us exactly what the "few changes" you made are and now PC won't wake....

Ok, tried all suggestions.  The changes I made were:

1.  Changed GPU

2.  Increased memory from 32gb to 64gb.

3.  Added Sound Blaster pci-e card.

4.  Added usb c pci-e card.

Tried removing the two pci cards.  Did not help.

This is what my settings look like in the BIOS. If this doesn't work re-check the advanced power plan settings like RoHe said.

If I had to guess, I would say that one of the power options in the BIOS is the culprit. If possible can you list what your usb wake support settings and other advanced power settings in the bios are? I had to adjust mine a few times before I got it how I wanted. It is not communicated very well what the settings actually do. Also check for updates to make sure the PC is completely up to date so that problem can be ruled out as well.

@Mluna20  - Did you make all the changes to Power plan settings and in BIOS that I listed above?

@kras1 -  Out of curiosity, why do you have Numlock disabled in BIOS? Is that because your keyboard doesn't have a number key pad on its right side?

I have no idea why it is disabled. I have never changed that setting. The number pad on my Logitech wireless keyboard has always worked fine. And because everything has always worked, I decided to leave it alone because I am very, very good at creating problems by changing settings. I have also considered that it disabled the key and defaults the numlock to always be on because the numlock key doesn't do anything on my keyboard.

I'm probably gonna leave it. With my luck I would change it and then the PC wouldn't boot.

@kras1  It's usually t'other way round.  Enabling Num Lock in BIOS is typically supposed to automatically enable entering numbers on the number pad instead of those keys moving the cursor around.

You could try enabling Num Lock in BIOS and see if the num lock key on keyboard now allows you to switch between entering numbers vs navigating.  Or just leave it as is...

Reset everything as suggested.  Still fails.  Disabled sleep and it still sleeps.  Will not wake with power button.  Aggravating.

Anything I can try with power stats in bios?

There are some BIOS options whose default settings you could try changing:

C-States Control
Deep Sleep Control
Block Sleep

You may want to change them only one at a time to identify an offender.  If a change doesn't solve the problem, reset it back to its original setting and change the next one. Hopefully it's only one setting so you won't have to start changing them in combinations of 2 or more...

The saga continues.  System no longer booted and I had to do factores default reset.  Could not boot my backup boot able image from optical or USB.  After days of recovering I'm left with the original problem and now I also cannot boot from chrome or usb.  Bios settings do not expose enable usb boot.  Another thing. Hybrid sleep is no longer an option. Also it now takes minutes to boot.
