XPS 8960, should we wait for it?

The 8960's are starting to roll out. More models will likely arrive over the next few weeks. The big change seems to be 13th Gen processors. Do people think a higher-priced 8960 will be worth the extra cost over the 8950?

Price is always dependent on timing.  8960 price at end of 2023 or in 2024 will be different from premium price now. If you have a deep pocket and want the best and instant gratification then go for newest.  If you like deals then shop for a 8950 on Dell outlet where price is lower.

Compare specs side by side to see what meets the intended use. For example:

XPS 8950: 4 DIMM slots, max RAM 128 GB
XPS 8960: 2 DIMM slots, max RAM 64 GB

RAM speed in XPS 8950 changes depending on number of modules installed, but not in XPS 8960.

I am glad I bought XPS8950 on the first day it was released (Dec 2021). Looking back now (June 2023) that price for my XPS8950 has NOT dropped much although DELL offers other cheap configuration options.

XPS8960 price is astonishingly high.  I can not afford it honestly.

So I made the right decision to choose XPS8950 and enjoyed its high performance in the last 18 month.

I was about to purchase an XPS 8940 a while back but the 8950 was about to be released and at the price, was a no-brainer.

Would I have liked a Raptor Lake 8960...yes but not enough to wait a year. :)

Would be nice if Dell has a little love for the fans by letting us drop a Raptor Lake CPU in the 8950 though.

I mean, are they HP or are they DELL!
