XPS One 2710, Windows 7, drivers missing?
Had to restore my XPS One 2710 from scratch using Windows 7. System works well except I can't seem to activate a wireless network. Device manager is telling that both multimedia and network controllers are missing drivers yet I've installed all the available drivers for my system. Ethernet controller works fine (Atheros AR8161). Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?
Could it have something to do with a Windows update that simply will not install (KB4534310)?

Did you check and make sure the chipset drivers were installed? And I have never recommended using Windows 7 since support ended. Too many security issues and possibility of systems being compromised.

Agree with @JOcean, you may not have the Intel Chipset drivers installed, but even if you do, Win 7 has way too many security holes that won't ever get patched.
Think carefully before trying to upgrade this PC model to Win 8 or 10. Dell used 6 different motherboard versions in the XPS 2710, some of which aren't compatible with Win 8 or 10 and attempts to install either of them brick the board.
Read the posts by Dell-Chris M here and here. If the board is ok for Win 8, it might run Win 10, but that's entirely at your own risk...

Thank you both, but I restored to Win 7 so I could retrieve data I had stored years ago on a WD MyBookLive. It seems later versions of Windows aren't supported (I have an Win 10 Optiplex that won't talk to it). As it turns out, this system won't connect to it yet either!
The XPS I have won't run anything above Win 7 anyway.
I've installed all the drivers available for my system from the support site. I'll try reinstalling the Chipset driver set. Any other ideas? Or any ideas on the patch that won't install?

That WD MyBookLive drive is supposed to be compatible with Win 10. Did you install the driver for it?
