9560 audio driver update.

Hi, A couple days ago, I updated the realtek high definition audio driver to version 6.0.1.8555 ,A12, but after the update, the sound was shallow and there was like a low-frequency noise, constantly. Reverted to 6.0.1.8432,A09 and the sound is normal again. Anyone else experienced this? Best,

I had [once again] a huge problem with the audio driver [driver before 6.0.1.8555], EQ was not working. Then I uninstalled and Windows installed the known good one from Windows Update automatically. Right, so I got the EQ back, but now when I muted my Windows and did sleep-resume, it showed muted, but audio played.

I see that Dell has now updated the audio driver once again [19. Nov - 6.0.1.8555], and I will test it later. Hope it works well.

And yes, this is exactly the reason I'm here on this forum right now.

Edit: I can Confirm that 19. Nov - 6.0.1.8555 audio driver EQ is not working on XPS 9560 - W10 October Update clean install.

I wish Dell would say something about this. Audio driver 6.0.1.8555 simply doesn't work and it's now the version being pushed by Windows Update.

LarryGS,

Update the BIOS version and uninstall Smartbyte. Also, run the ePSA Diagnostics by starting the computer and tapping the F12 key. Choose ePSA Diags.

DELL-Jessie L, thank you for your response. BIOS is already at 1.12.1, SmartByte is already uninstalled, and all diagnostics, including advanced, passed with flying colors. This really is a problem with Realtek Audio driver 6.0.1.8555. Waves MaxxAudioPro simply doesn't work, at least not on the XPS 9560.

LarryGS,

If you have the October Windows update 1809 installed roll back to the previous version of Windows.

I have reported the issue to the engineering team and awaiting a response. In the meantime you may want to install the previous version of the Audio drivers.

How to recover / restore your previous version of Windows using the Rollback feature in the Anniversary, Spring / Fall Creators Update & April / Oct. 2018 update

Same problem with a Precision 5520.

Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_MMKKK_WIN_6.0.1.8555_A12_02.EXE sounded terrible.

Rolling back to Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_MMGGG_WIN_6.0.1.8432_A09.EXE fixed it.

I have had an occasional BSOD, but I don't recall whether it always happened when str3aming audio.  I was hoping the "Fixes the intermittent blue screen issue that occurs while audio is streamlng on Windows 10" fix in A12 would prevent future issues, but audio quality prevents using that update at this point.
