Bluetooth constantly disappearing - XPS 13 9360

Hi all,

I bought a dell xps 13 back in March 2018, fast forward to 2018 end I bought a surface bluetooth mouse and after using it for like a week the bluetooth suddenly disappeared nowhere to be found in the settings. I contacted the dell support, did a remote session and they made the bluetooth appear again telling me also in case it happens again i have to sent it to them to inspect it.

After a few days bluetooth disappeared again - contacted the support and they told me that it would it take c.30 business days to get my laptop back, but due to the fact that i needed to submit my thesis back then sending the laptop to them was not an option. I never sent the laptop to them and the warranty has expired.

I have tried all the recommendation i found in the forum from guys with the same problem as mine but nothing worked. My best try was installing the "Killer-Wireless-AC-1535-and-1435-Bluetooth Driver_V373W_WIN_10.0.0.916_A14_01" driver - the bluetooth never disappeared for almost a month.

Fast forward to today, in the work from home era, i spent most of my day in this laptop (c.10-12 hours per day) and it really irritates me to have the bluetooth disappearing and have to rr the laptop go into bios check and uncheck the bluetooth tickbox in order to get it back in the settings (sometimes i need to do this 2-3 times a day). I would greatly appreciate any recommendation / solution / feedback on my problem.

Thank you in advance.

Solutions i have tried:

  • Enter bios ---> wireless device ---> uncheck bluetooth ---> enter bios again and check bluetooth (works but for limited time only)
  • Updated the drivers (works for limited time)
  • Reinstall drivers (nothings happens)
  • Uninstall bluetooth device from device manager (works for limited time)
  • Unchecked the "allow the computer to turn off the device" in the power management tab (not working)

Does the wireless network connection drop when transferring large amount of data only? Open Device Manager and look for any issue with the Killer wireless driver.

Restart the system in safe mode with networking and let us know if the issue persisted. How to restart in safe mode with networking? Refer the link- https://dell.to/2S0vyWU and select the appropriate option for safe mode with networking.

Thank you for your recommendation @AdrianG001 .

I have not tried to transfer large amount of data via bluetooth. I am usually using a bluetooth mouse and bluetooth earphones, the problem is that in random times the bluetooth completely disappears, you can't find the bluetooth setting nowhere in the laptop.

I restarted the system in safe mode yesterday and the bluetooth still disappeared after a while.

I have a similar problem and hope you might help me.  My XPS 13 is from 2017 and BT worked fine until 6 months ago.  It dropped in and out and eventually stopped working completely.  The BT device is not detected in the Device Manager.  I think it is probably a hardware failure.  I'd appreciate knowing anything you've found out.  Thanks!

What worked for me was to restore the default setting in the bios.

1.close your dell xps 13 0360
2.Press the power button, then press F2 several times
3.Your should be in the bios, then restore default or load default

Bios > Wireless > Wireless Enable > Click "restore bios defaults, button", exit...

My bluetooth was gone in device manager, now its back, thanks for the help!

That's a good list.

Right,
- Uninstall anything related to "Killer Networking" ( ie, Killer of your wireless Networking)
- Delete anything WiFi and Bluetooth from your Device Manager
- Let Windows-10 Plug-and-Play re-detect
- Let Windows-10 load IT'S driver from it's local-cache or Windows-Update (ie, NOT the Dell driver).

You can also try running your WiFi on 5-Ghz (leaving 2.4ghz fully available for Bluetooth)

If that does not work, I would have someone re-seat the wireless mini-card for you (after disconnecting run-battery and doing a power-dissipation). Also that the antennas are properly attached inside.

If it's still broken, just replace the wireless mini-card (they are cheap).

Worked for a day, Bluetooth disappears out of Device Manager again, guess I'll have reboot to Bios Default Reset daily till I replace a dying WAN card?

Is that Dells Solution?

No, what I posted is my trouble-shooting tree to a possible solution

If you want Dell's solution, you should call or chat with them.
