Dell XPS 13 9310 yellow display problem

Hi ,

I just got my new dell XPS 13 9310 FHD+ and I noticed immediately that the screen has a yellow tint. I tried to change display settings using color management in windows 10 as well as intel graphics command center and dell CinemaColor  but it doesn't change much .  I checked the night mode and it's off so that's not the reason.

I also own a dell XPS 15 9570 and the difference between the two is clearly visible. I ran the lcd built-in self test on both and the white color on the dell XPS 13 9310 is yellowish.

Are all the new dell XPS 13 like that ? Is this because of the new eyesafe feature that reduces blue light or is there a problem with my display ?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Hi

I'm a user of dell xps 13 9310 2021 model , i got also the same yellow tint , you can solve the problem by calibrating the display from color management .

go to search in task bar , go to advanced then go down the list you will find calibrate display , proceed with the steps till you find 3 color bars red , green and blue , reduce the red and green equally till the yellow tint is removed. and this is how to solve the yellowish tint problem.

Hope it is Useful for everyone

I see that the system is equipped with an antiglare screen when compared to XPS 15 9570. That being the reason, you might have observed the display difference. Having said that I would like to notify you that the display is working as designed.

I have the very same problem. I noticed the yellowish colour of the display since I have unboxed the XPS 13 9300. I tried to callibrate the RGB colours for reducing the yellow tint, however some yellow spots remain on the screen. This is clearly a manufacturing and quality problem. I've already contacted my local support for a replacement and I will cancel the purchase if this problem can't be solved. This is my second XPS and I'm quite disappointed with DELL.

I was able to reduce the yellowish color of the screen by adjusting the RGB intensities in the "Intel Graphics Command Center" application. The screen becomes whiter, as a normal notebook screen would be, but the yellow spots persist on the display. Everything leads me to believe that DELL is intentionally shipping notebooks with RGB turned to yellow in order to cover up manufacturing or design defects in their displays. This is unfortunate, especially as it is one of the most expensive notebook models available on the market.

I just received my new XPS 13 today, with the same screen (FHD+, touch) with the same yellow tint issue.

I also have the same problem. Is that related to anti-glare or eyesafe technology? I contacted Dell Vietnam but they didn't know. Quite disapointed for a famous ultrabook

I also have the same issue with screen. I just purchased xps 13 9310 2 in 1, 11 gen intel evo ,16 gb ram,512 ssd and on setup I got yellow / off white screen which is very very disappointing as I have been using Xps 15 9575 .Battery remaining time also skips randomly by hours in just few seconds. is there any solution to this or is this manufacturing defect??

Same issue, haven't found a solution yet. I'll try different things over the weekend but I might have to return it. I paid from premium, I expect premium.

Same issue for me. I got my xps 13 9305 last week. Dell’s phone technical support spent more than hour trying to fix it but still not solved. If this is an xps 13 issue - then order replacement may not be a solution either. Please help.

It's not just the XPS models with the yellow tint.

I've just got the top spec i7 Latitude 7320 Detachable and the tint is awful. Any mainly-white pages (Word, Outlook, Explorer) have that ghastly off-white yellow appearance.

I've tried several hours of troubleshooting with Dell Support over the past day and nothing has fixed it.

Any other high-end laptop I've looked at has a bright, white display; not this sickly eye-strain inducing yellow hue that the Latitude has.

For a $4000 AUD laptop, I want a display commensurate with what I paid.

I'm returning it for a refund

This solved the yellowing! I reduced the green slightly and it is now has perfect whites. I guess they didn't factory calibrate the displays.

Doh! Thanks for the advice folks, but I've already returned the Latitude 7320 for a refund.

Tech Support did suggest colour calibration but didn't give any specifics about WHAT to change, so i was just blindly sliding colours around without knowing that i should be adjusting the red and/or the green.

Pity tech support didn't know as much as the Dell forum experts - would have saved me some hassles and would have meant I kept what is otherwise a great detachable.

My solution for this wasn't anything strictly related to colours..

Intel Graphics Command Center -> Settings -> Video -> 'Contrast Enhancement' set to 100.

I also have Total Color Saturation OFF.

This prevents the washed out colours for most things and display seems to 'pop' a lot better visually..

Thanks, good luck!

I've been using my XPS 13 for several months now, however when I turned it on this morning, the built in display is yellow!  The external monitor is fine.  What has happened?!?!?

OK - I solved it.  Yesterday I was trying to fix the poor camera performance (terrible brightness adjustment on video calls - I have to sit under near studio lighting for anyone to see me) and I started up the Dell Cinema Color app, somehow it was enabled and only affected the display when I started it this morning.  Disabling the Dell Cinema Color app removed the yellow tint.  Now if I can get decent sound, video performance and get my head set working.... so disappointed in this machine.

This is a BIG issue. Ive received several replacement panels. ALL too yellow and NOT 500nits as written in the specs. The max brightness is only 420nits for the FHD panels, verified using external colorimeter. I took 20 sample measurements using i1d3 plus of all the panels.

If you calibrate using windows RGB sliders to fix the white point, the max brightness will go down further to 380nits.

This leads me to believe that poor quality DIM panels at 380 nits are sold with the yellow white point as a trick to boost the brightness.
