Dell XPS 13 9370 touchpad raised?

Hi people, having a bit of an issue.

I've noticed that my touchpad has a raised about 2 mm on the left upper corner (everything works well though). Taking a look over the web I saw that's usually a faulty battery that's causing this. I've opened the laptop, took the battery out and checked it - seemed perfectly fine to me. Then I've left the laptop without returning it for almost half a day where I've pressed the touchpad back in place before leaving it at my desk.

I came back later that day and found the touchpad being raised again, with the battery being outside. When I press it back into it's place (upper left corner) and hold it for 10 seconds, it stays in place for a minute and then you can hear like it's peeling off of some glue. Tried it a few more times, and it always sounds that some kind of glue isn't sticking it in place.

Is there any sense to it and what you'd think might be the cause of this?

I'd rather not carry the machine to be serviced since I use it for work and it's barely used for a week.

Thanks a bunch.

I have the same issue with a raised touch pad (top right corner) of my XPS 13 (9370) purchased from Dell Outlet in March 2019.  I have not taken the battery out as the OP.

Can ping my service TAG as well please?  Thanks in advance, Peter

Remove the base cover and check the condition of the battery.  It's swollen, remove it and dispose of it immediately.
Leaving a swollen battery in the system is both a safety and a physical hazard -- the pressure will destroy the system.

Thanks Thorium for the tip, MUCH more helpful that the DellBot!

I would not have thought the battery to have gone off so soon - expectations too high maybe :-).  New one on order...   Peter

Just in case someone comes to find this post, you don't realise how puffed up your old battery is until you take it out and compare it to the replacement:-).  My keyboard and touch pad are now lovely and flat again. The old battery is heading for safe disposal at a local recycling centre!  Thanks again for the hints form the community here!  Peter
