Dell XPS 13 9380 Lid

Guys, i've looked through a few threads on this but found no solution for a $2k laptop.

Why doesn't the laptop wake upon the lid being opened? I have to press the power button to wake it up, just doesn't make sense to me. It only works if the lid has been closed for a short while.

Hi beanoyip,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Your system has Modern Standby which is a bit different from the S3 Sleep Mode you are used to in previous models.

Here is information on Modern Standby

If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.

In that case, is there any other way to wake the laptop other than pushing the power button. I'm just afraid over using the button might cause it's pre mature failure.

This is literally the only thing this laptop lacks.  Besides that it's flawless.  I agree, would be nice to have.  Windows will recognize that function if the hardware maker builds it into the laptop.
