Dell XPS 15 9570 GPU burnt!!

I have a Dell XPS 15 9570

i5  8300H

GTX 1050 4GB

One fine day I heard a spark in my laptop (on idle) right after some some smoke came out from the vent exhaust/outlet below the screen and it turned itself off!
The PC was under no heavy load neither GPU or CPU, I use an external monitor so the built in display was not in use. The lid was open.

I flipped it over and opened the back cover to check for any visual signs of burnt elements but everything seemed to be normal. no weird smells no black or burnt parts at least on the surface.

I managed to turn it on after cleaning the fans (they did not have any signs of blockage I clean them regularly).
everything to be fine but it would not detect the GPU at all. The drivers were all in place but in device manager the GTX driver showed a code 45 error. I did a complete uninstall of all drivers (using DDU utility) only to see an error while reinstalling that the machine does not have any supported hardware.

is there a work around or am i looking at a complete motherboard replacement?
