Dell XPS 15 Recording Issues

Hello all, I recently bought a Dell xps 15 i9 11900H @ 2.50GHz 32 gb installed ram im using a external hard drive with 1 tb to save files to and I have a powered Dell USB dock that I just bought to plug in my USB interfaces, mouse etc.

For some reason no matter what I use, Audacity. OBS studio, Reaper. It will only let me record Audio for a few minutes and then it just stops. I've tried plugging my audio interface directly in, I've tried with a powered dock but nothing seems to work.

My crappy desktop computer is able to record for hours so I don't understand how this laptop I spent a couple thousand on cannot record audio for a more than a few minutes it's really frustrating. Is there any1 that has any information on how I can fix this because I'm thinking of buying a desktop computer to do my recording and streaming and just keep the laptop for strictly editing. 

It says my drivers are all up to date aswell so i really dont understand whats going on. I'd really rather not spend more money though so please somebody anything helps
