Dell XPS 9510 - Error 511 - Fan will not stop running. Processor fan issue
XPS 15 9510
Warranty ended a week ago for my year-old XPS 9510 laptop, and now there appears to be an issue, the Processor fan will not stop running. It even continues to run when the laptop is closed. For context, the fan running does not appear to be related to overheating.
When I rebooted earlier today, I received an 511 error: "Fan not responding." I've updated BIOS to the most recent version, and changed the Thermal Mode (under Power Manager) to "Quiet" but the problem has persisted. There does not appear to be debris in the fan and the Hardware scan/functional test returned a "Failed" result.
Any idea how this can be resolved without sending in the laptop? I can't send it in for at least 3 weeks.

Run Dell Diagnostics:
Immediately after pressing the power button to turn on the laptop (or after clicking the Reboot command), press and hold F12 to enter the One Time Boot Menu, select Diagnostics and press Enter. The Dell Diagnostics will test major hardware components.
