Display goes to max brightness at startup

Question

When I turn on my XPS 13 (9310), the display sometimes comes on at maximum brightness, regardless of the setting it was at previously. I've tried changing some brightness-related settings, such as disabling automatic brightness control, but it doesn't help.

Has anyone else encountered this or know of a solution?

UPDATE- updating to the Intel graphics driver has fixed the problem
