Driver error

Here is another issue that Dell can chew on

Repeated system error message:  20 times or more a day.

The driver\Driver\WudRd failed to load for the device {   location }      Detection Verification  { location  }   Kernel PnP Event ID 219

Here is another event issue.

MTConfig errors 50 times a day.

An attempt to configure the input mode of a multi-touch device failed.

These errors occur after running the Dell assist program. Which shows everything is just fine with your system.

Goes to show one how in-depth its analysis algorithms are.

Pretty sure it is... I called that out like 2 months ago.

It's cool that you have an engineer now at least.  I'm still on 1909 otherwise I would add some feedback.

Regarding clicking http://aka.ms/AA9oz15 to use Feedback Hub "Add similar feedback" trace for "Touchpad" using "Recreate my problem" > "Start recording"

... It'd actually be much more useful to:
1) Start recording the trace BEFORE the problem happens
2) Let the problem happen
3) Stop recording the trace RIGHT AFTER the problem happens

If you're willing to do that, Microsoft can more easily figure out which Touchpad event isn't firing right on resume.

Feedback this thing until it is solved!

Hi,

Greetings!

I would like to know did you get a chance to perform the steps shared.

Thanks ec-max.

This workaround worksaround quite nicely.

The issue does appear to show up after Win10 2004 update. Affected model in our group is the 7400.  We created your task and pushed by group policy...seems to be doing the trick. The only other laptop model we have is the 5490. It seems to be unaffected thus far.

Holding breath for a real Dell fix...

@tryonNcryon glad I could help.

Limitation is that the touchpad can't wake the computer up from sleep; but that is a small thing.  Still waiting for a real fix; but not brave enough to hold my breath.

@DELL-Cares (Vivek)
people will possibly start to consider doing tests you ask of them, once you have spent the time to actually read through all the tests that were done already, and understand the results shared so far.

While we appreciate your attempt to help, this thread is evidently well past your scripted "can you check whether it's connected or not" process.

Please catch up with our progress and provide us with relevant input, and only then, can you expect replies from people spending yet more time on this very annoying issue.

Cheers.
BigTweety.

I used to recommend Dell laptops for their quality. I now advice to use Lenovo. Get back on track please.

I had a demand from from more senior Dell support for a bunch more logs and diagnostics.. to be supplied within 24 hours or they would close the ticket.

I did supply the information within the timeframe despite time-zone differences.. and heard nothing back.

I feel as though if Dell had effective training support people with access to a lab, they would be trying to replicate the issue inhouse rather than asking customers to do work. Nothing I have seen so far gives me confidence the issue has been dealt with at that level

Same exact issue here with Windows 10 Pro 2004... but on a brand new HP Dragonfly. Very annoying.

Clearly a Microsoft issue with driver and sleep modes that should affect not just Dell units.

But Dell engineers should be reproducing the issue and putting pressure on Microsoft to fix.

Hi all,

Since the pnputil workaround works for me, and Dell is not providing any solution, I figured I could share the files to save others' time :

touchpad Fix.xml = Windows scheduled task to be imported (update the path if different from c:\_bin)

touchpadFix.bat = batch file launching pnputil & logging

You can get it from https://gofile.io/d/6hVBT0

Cheers.

Installed Windows 10 Pro 20H2 update today aaand the issue is still there. Let me stress again that mine is an HP not a Dell, however the issue looks the same.

Hi @Palladium,

Feel free to use the files I shared here :

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Driver-error/m-p/7721746/highlight/true#M71901

to get a workaround in the mean-time.

Cheers.

Hi,

I just got an Update for my L7400 which has fixed the issue for me.

I'm not sure if it is compatible for other devices as well:

I see dell command update installed that (Intel Serial IO Update v30.100.2020.7) a couple days ago.  Disabling my scheduled task and will report back if the problem returns.
