How to replace video cable for Dell XPS 9570?
Got no display or the screen flicking on my Dell XPS 9570 which has 4K display, here is what I did so far:
1. Connect it with the external monitor, images showing correctly on the external monitor, but not on the built-in display
2. Open the back cover and try to wiggle the video cable, or move the display with different angles on hinge, and got the image back on built-in display some times, one or two times has the image showing correctly on the built-in display for a few minutes.
3. Most of the time, has no images on the built-in display, if there is, then it is just flickering.
I suspect the video cable (or the video ribbon cable) might be damaged or broken which caused the connection not stable, is there a way to replace the video cable only or have to change a new display assembly?
Any thoughts?
Thanks for any advise.

On these, the display assembly is not repairable - it's fused together. If the cable is damaged, the display assembly needs to be replaced.

Apart from the LVDS cable (LCD assembly) the slot of motherboard itself may have gone bad and not providing solid fit.
The cost of LCD (most probably the root cause) and Motherboard is a lot and doesn't make sense to buy it your self.
Purchase warranty from Dell instead.

Thanks. By the way, other than the display assembly, is there any other component you think could be failed or broken based on my description above?

@Lovecd
Hi,
Did you replace the cable? I'm DELLing with same issue, which is very common with dells.
However, posting on this forum is useless. Those "dell ex-perts" will only discourage you from any attempt of fixing, obviously. Waste of time.
I've already fixed a number of XPS laptops, having basic electronic background and skills. Youtube helps a lot. I've saved £12,000 by watchinbg videos, buying pertol saw and cutting down 4 12-metres tall trees in my garden. I've fixed a dishwasher, 2 tumble dryers and a washing machine. I've learnt networking and set-up devices at home and office, including syncronisation between them.
And I've already fixed, set up and debloated 7 dell XPS laptops, thanks to videos.
Hope you reply, otherwise I'm still going to try to replace video cable anyway. I'm exactly at same point as you were 4 years ago, newer XPS model though.
Best regards
Ben
