New XPS 17 (9720) power button, fingerprint reader?

Hello all. I have a brand new XPS 17 (9720). Everything seems to be OK, for the most part, however there is one issue. When I shut down (start, power, shut down), after the machine shuts down and I close the lid -- when I open the lid to use the machine again -- it goes right into the start/boot up mode. Is this a factory default setting? Every other laptop I've had, you open the lid, and you have to "turn on" the machine using the power button. Also, the power button appears to be set to be a fingerprint reader -- although I never set it up that way when I first got the machine. My IT people might have done that, but I don't know.

Is there a way I can set the power button to be used simply as a (traditional) power button and disable the fingerprint reader aspect of this? Thanks in advance.
