Software feedback for the dell XPS Plus 9320

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Yes I got that, my message was a reply to Dell-Cares, they're asking for your service tag, as you actually owned the laptop..! They didn't spend much time reading your post I guess.

Hi Tatolino, I'm aware the 9320 is not on the market yet. But it is announced it will only support Windows 11 and Ubuntu - not Chrome OS. Hence the feedback :)!

Really? Do you have a link that supports that claim?

On Windows/Intel/AMD computers (actual computers, not tablets and mobile-devices), I thought Windows and Linux were popular. My guess would be Apple's macOS would be next.

I thought Chrome-OS was for very low-end/cheap laptops (that don't have to power to run a traditional OS nicely). Sounds similar to the Android mobile-OS to me.

XPS laptops are fairly high-end and very capable.

Chrome OS has changed a lot over de past couple of years - it went from a browser/cloud based OS to a OS which in my opinion challenges Windows and Mac OS.

How you might ask?

Well the biggest points are:

1. Chrome OS supports Linux. You can use (almost) any Linux app on a Chromebook. Right now Chrome OS is actually just Linux, but with a actual nicely designed and well though out UI.

2. Chrome OS still is a very light weight OS. Which has an huge positive impact battery life. With two identical laptops, one running Chrome OS and one running Windows the Chrome OS laptop reaches about a 1.6x longer  battery life. 

3. The 'Google' Ecosystem. Not just a coherent design language is a plus, but a perfect integration with Google Service (Photos/Drive/Contacts etc) and Android, sharing a clipboard, nearby share, directly seeing your recent token pictures, unlocking a laptop with your wear os watch or phone etc.

4. Security and client management. Both huge for companies. 

And for me a more personal point. I like the UX of chrome OS, for me Chrome OS feels greatly polished while Windows and even Mac OS feel incoherent, dated and not very user friendly.

As strange as it may sound, I and I know more people like me would be willing to pay more for a (premium) laptop with Chrome OS.

Also an interesting note is that more and more premium Chromebook are hitting the market. Look at the HP Elite Dragonfly or Samsung Galaxybook. For me a Dell XPS chromebook would be perfect.

Thanks for the link - but that would sadly not be an option. I have tried it on my current XPS 9370. A lot does not work (Android apps/limited linux functionallity/nearby share/fingerprint) and a lot more.
