XPS 13 9300 at only 36% Capacity?

In May 2020, I bought a brand new XPS 13 9300 laptop as my daily workhorse. According to the Battery Report I ran this week, the full charge capacity is only 18,848 mWh vs. 50,973 designed capacity (36% left).

Is this considered typical for Dell laptop batteries? To lose about 2,000 mWh of capacity per month?

You know, it very much depends on how many times you recharge it (charging cycles), but there are also other aspects that you need to factor in, for example if you always charge your battery up to 100% and then wait for it to hit rock bottom to charge it again. Also temperatures play a big role, some laptops support express charging, which allows you to charge your battery faster but the extra heat will eventually damage your battery, but I don't think your laptop is among them.

To be fair, 18 months for a "workhorse" sounds plausible. How many charging cycles does your battery have?

~19Wh for a laptop from May 2020 looks pretty bad. Mine is the same age and the capacity is about 30Wh right now (which I already think is kind of bad!). I've been using my laptop daily, but I generally try to keep the charge between 20% and 80% (these batteries degrade the fastest when charged at near empty or near full capacities). I also us it as a desktop replacement quite a lot, in which case the battery is bypassed. I guess if you constantly charge it to full 100% and then discharge it to nearly 0, then the 60% loss of capacity in nearly two years is about right -- these batteries are good for about 1000 full cycles. ~1 cycle a day results in less than 3 years of service.
