XPS 13 9365 Touchscreen Not Working (I2C HID Device Error Code 10)

The touchscreen on my Windows 10 Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 stopped working the other day. My touchscreen simply will not respond.  I first checked Device Manager.  There was a Code 10 error on one of two I2C HID Devices.  Here is a screenshot:

I have already tried to update the driver, but there are no updates available.

What can be done to fix this?

Thanks!

Same problem, I just think it was due to any update taht was either automatically done by windows or by the SupportAssist. I updated my BIOS due to an urgent alert (same model as yours) and I got the same issue.

I only show one I2C HID Device.  Maybe uninstall the one showing an error..

My system seems to be working normally, but I will look for any updates I have not yet gotten..

I did uninstall the component, however it continues in the same status as the touchscreen is still not working properly.

Thank you and regards,

@LDPatt7  I noticed you also do not show an HID-compliant touchscreen.  I supposed that is because of the driver error.  The Device manager shows no drivers are needed for the touchscreen..

Other than those items, if all of your chipset and sensor drivers are up to date, it should work.  I can't remember if it should also work on the Bios screens but I will check later.  You might look at that also, since Windows is not running.  The touchscreen is basically just another USB device..  It runs from the I2C Controller, along with a mouse, my PEN and Keyboard..

Thanks for the help!

I ran a test that was recommended to me by a Dell Tech Expert.  It was a touchscreen test for SupportAssist here under custom components.  Here's what it gave me:

I think @Saltgrass already mentioned this.  I'm going to look into finding the driver.

It might take some time for your attachment to show so I will wait to see what it shows..

I have the same issue on 9305 xps 13.  seems to have started after recent updates.  I did a full windows reset after trying all the other suggested remedies.

I suppose this must be some kind of hardware failure since the touchscreen does not work in the bios setup screen and it should.  At least that is what it says where there is a switch to enable or disable the touchscreen in windows.  it says there that even if that switch is set to disable, it will still work in the bios setup which it does not,.
