XPS 13 Plus, capacitive keys are problematic

Our office has one of these laptops for our collegue that travels a lot. Only about 1.5 years into using the device, the capacitive keys are now continually activating without being pressed and don't activate when intentionally pressed. This means work gets randomly deleted, pasted (insert key), brightness toggling, etc. This happens frequently throughout day. Is there any solution to get the function row working properly? Currently, the capacitive keys are a huge design flaw and do not work as advertised. They literally make the computer less useful. I've seached for fixes but to no avail. An otherwise great device is made useless by its dumb capacitive function row.

Same here - brand new XPS 16 and suddenly these keys stop working at all. I bought the device despite the keys, thought I'd get used to them. I did not realize that they are obviously a technology that appears to be immature and just a design nonsense. Will have to return the device - and charge DELL for the two days of preparing the device.
