XPS 13 slow when plug in

My laptop runs perfectly while not plugged into the charger that came with it. However, once it is plugged in it becomes nearly unusable as completing any simple action like opening and new tab or searching on google will take 4-5 seconds each. Nothing online has offered any solution. Thanks!
