XPS 15-7590 killer 1650 FAILED!

There have been numerous threads suggesting the best fix is to use the Killer Wireless uninstaller and remove the drivers and control Suite for the card.

Once that is done, reinstall using the drivers, and Suite, if you want, from the website.  It is always best to have the new drivers available so you can go offline to complete the uninstall process and reinstall process.  If you don't, Windows will beat you to the punch and reinstall drivers it thinks are appropriate.

SmartByte has been identified, in the past, as a bandwidth manager which may limit your speeds depending on what you are doing.  It can be removed if you choose to do so.

I have installed and run the AX1650 on two systems and did not have any problems.  I am now running the Intel AX210 on those systems and they work normally.  It can be helpful to have a 2 Gbps Wireless connection, if you had a need to that much bandwidth.

See my reply, I did the clean sweep full-reinstall of drivers move.

When I did it on the second re-occurance it did not solve the problem and actually caused the AC1650x to be removed.

Smartbyte has nothing to do with me. 

A quick add, I'm 50ish, don't abuse my tools, this device generally is in the house or on my lap, and is transported, which did happen until March 13th of 2020, regularly, in a cushioned and stiff carrying case. 

Managed to fix it:

1. I went to the Killer site
2. Made a ticket--feel like I'm working without getting paid!
3. Downloaded their complete scrub software and the complete software suite
4. Did the uninstall reinstall thing, worked perfectly

Then it stopped again a week or so later!

I was too busy to deal with it other than to file another ticket with Killer. So I set the Dell aside, grabbed my old MSI running Linux and powered my way through some work.

Finally got back to the Dell and the WiFi was mysteriously working, but the bluetooth was not connected. Seems to me that the Killer 1650x card device I have is failing. Yay!

So, I'm guessing that I'll get to replace my WiFi card at some point.

Some folks in another thread are seeing it works now but stops after a period of time.

Are you checking your configuration to make sure some driver is not being updated.  Could it be changing connections which are not as strong.  

Do you know how long the adapter gets for Lease duration?  Mine seem to be about 30 hours.

Could anything in your environment be changing?

If you look at the properties of the card in the Device Manager, there is an events tab.  You may need to scroll to see all the entries, but maybe you could see something change there when the system fails..

 Yeah, that's what I assumed happened with when it re-occurred, but when I did the clean remove using the Killer app and reinstalled and it still didn't work, then I'm now suspecting it is the card.

I mean, maybe it is the connection of the card in the system, but I kind of doubt it.

It could still be a driver issue or something wrong with this motherboard.

But signs are pointing towards the card.

Going to retry uninstall and reinstall using Killer's packages.

Really interesting. I did the completely remove Killer software, using their software package.

Rebooted, and now everything  works perfectly.

Curioser and curioser.

That screams software.

And me being too hard on Dell or not hard enough on Killer.

I swapped out the killer card for an intel AC 9260 one a couple of weeks into ownership of my 7590 and never had any further issues with either wifi or bluetooth

I also think Killer or maybe the compatibility of Killer and Dell.

I also had problems with my Killer card on my XPS 15. First the wifi was disconnecting from time to time. After I reset the network settings through Windows, the wifi section was completely gone and not even the freshly installed Killer Control Center would start. However the card was still visible in the device manager. I then unistalled the whole Killer Software and unistalled the drivers for the fourth or fith time but this time with ticking the box to delete the driver software and after another reboot everything was back to normal. For the last step I tried to prevent Windows from automatically updating my drivers.

Now I just have to wait wether this is a longterm fix or the problems return in some time.

The problem is the combination of nvidia and wifi on this laptop when running linux. It seems luke a pci express problem to me.

the workaround you either run intel graphics only or wifi with 11n disabled. (Modprobe -r iwlwifi && modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disabled=1)
