XPS 15 7590, microphone not working

Question

I've only had my XPS 15 7590 for a couple weeks. All of a sudden, the microphone does not work for my remote meetings. I've tested it with the Audio device to record and with Zoom and other video conferencing apps. No luck. When I attach an external mic/speaker, it works fine. I noticed in the audio settings there are 2 mics: RealTek and Stereo Mix. Neither works. I'm not able to trouble shoot it to work at all. Any suggestions?

What a disaster!  Dell worked with me for over 30 hours on this issue between 3 very long technical support virtual attempts.  They also sent out a technician to help me but the first time they sent him out they shipped him the wrong part! (not the fault of the nice technician - totally Dell's logistics fault).  The 2nd time he visited he brought the right part and swapped out the LCD display (since the microphone and webcam are integrated into the LCD display).  That didn't fix the problem either.  Dell ultimately gave up on fixing the problem and asked me to ship my laptop to a service depot.  I couldn't do that since I needed the machine for work!  So I gave up and just compromised on receiving cash to buy an external Microphone (with a webcam).  This was such a bad experience.  My laptop still has a microphone that doesn't work and now I have a really bad view of Dell customer support.

Wow ... My XPS 15 7590 just ditched the microphone from device manager altogether and I can't find a way to add it back. I am sorry for you because I know what it is to have to have something that you depend on to not work that should be easily and readily fixable.
