XPS 15 9530, missing bracket for SSD2 slot?

Just got my new 2023 Dell XPS 15 9530. After speaking to the sales team and reviewing the related service manual, I decided against buying a larger size SSD directly from Dell. Both the sales team and service manual stated that I can add a second SSD drive myself. This would allow me to buy a larger capacity drive at a lower cost, with probably better performance too.

I decided to buy a Western Digital 2TB SN850X without the heatsink.

However, when I open the case I noticed that the second SSD slot did not provide a thermal bracket nor a retaining screw.

I should be able to find a suitable M2x3 screw from an electronics store.

However, what do I do about the missing thermal bracket?

Can I use the WD SN850X SSD without the thermal bracket for the short/long term?

Can I add an after market thermal paste/heatsink?

Is a heatsink necessary?

In the meantime I’m waiting to here back from the Dell sales team but have no idea what the cost for the thermal bracket is or its availability here in Australia.
