XPS 15 9560, restored missing Bluetooth
I have an XPS 15 (9560) in which, for unknown reasons, Bluetooth stopped working. I couldn't find the device before or after running all system updates, the troubleshooter, etc. in Windows 10.
Here are the steps I followed that helped me restore Bluetooth--at least until the next time the problem arises:
1. I used this guide to access BIOS system setup
Access UEFI (BIOS) System Setup from Windows on your Dell System
2. I used this guide to find the wireless settings
Bluetooth Troubleshooting and Usage Guide
3. Once at the right settings, I unchecked the Bluetooth boxes under "Wireless Switch" and "Wireless Device Enable", saved my changes, and restarted the machine.
4. I repeated steps 1 and 2 above to reach the BIOS wireless settings again, checked the Bluetooth boxes under "Wireless Switch" and "Wireless Device Enable", saved my changes, and restarted the machine.
5. Using the Start menu, I opened "Windows Settings --> Devices --> Bluetooth & other devices" and confirmed that the Bluetooth on/off button was restored. My BT mouse and keyboard started working again with no additional troubleshooting.
This seems to be a recurring issue with some Dell machines so I hope this helps until Dell provides customers with a durable solution.
