XPS 15 9570, battery not working!

Hello everyone,

I have a Dell XPS 15 9570 with battery trouble (1 year and a couple of weeks of use). The XPS 15 9570 warranty expired on June 23, 2020. A few days ago, the battery suddenly stop working. If I have the AC adapter disconnected, the laptop turns off immediately. It simply can't start without AC power connected, although in the stat bar shows 96% charged. Also suddenly, there is an orange light flashing.

I already checked in the BIOS, and it says that the battery has to be replaced, marking 96% charge. How is it possible that with only almost 1 year of use I have to replace the battery? Normally, the batteries lost capacity within the time, and you can see when the battery is getting less power, but in this case from one day to another, just stopped working.

Any advice about this? It's simply unbelievable.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Today's batteries do not last as long as the old models did.  See this--

Dell Laptop Battery - Frequently Asked Questions

And replacement batteries might be difficult to find from Dell or Dell Parts. They should come from Dell or Dell Parts to make sure the battery is genuine. Do not trust unknown sellers on the internet or on Marketplace sites. Many scams online with replacement batteries. I found this from a reputable seller of Dell Parts but verify the compatibility of your exact computer on that site before ordering.

There's a workaround to use if you can use the laptop as a desktop replacement-- remove the battery when completely dead and use the adapter alone.

@Mary G

Thanks for the answer, still, it is UNBELIEVABLE that occur that, this laptop is VERY expensive. When I was thinking to buy a new one, I was between this and a Macbook Pro, the batteries in Macbook last longer than Dell, what is the difference?

I'm very disappointed about Dell at the moment and I warn everyone that wants to buy a Dell computer that keeps this in mind, also the support was NOTHING. The model that I have, cost more than 2.000 USD!!! For that reason, it is unbelievable that they use such poor batteries.

Is the solution just to buy a new battery? is this the real support from Dell? Why I will buy another expensive battery from Dell if they last only 1 year?

The XPS 15 can conduct a master class of endurance. The XPS 9570 Laptop Battery lasted 11 hours 53 minutes on our battery test, including continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi with 150 nits brightness. It easily exists at an average of 8.26, Specter x360 (5:20), MateBook X (9:55) and MacBook Pro (10:21). The Surface Book came closest to match the winner with a time of 11:34, dropping to 3:12 when we tested the tablet ourselves.
So take your computer to the inspection company

@minayang I don't know how that information can help in this case. First of all, if the XPS 15 can conduct a master class of endurance, this post wouldn't be here. Also, this is not a matter of duration, the battery simply, from one day to another, died, WITH 1 YEAR OF USE. I'm not alone, there are plenty of cases in this forum and other places about this SAME issue.
