XPS 15 9570 EXTERNAL DISPLAY FLICKER ISSUE

Hello there!

Running a 2018 XPS 15 9570 w/ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050i

Since I purchased this computer and got a USB external monitor, I've had screen flickering issues. When connecting, the external display turns on and off rapidly causing the main display to flicker as it's loading/reloading the monitor. I've had this happen with two separate, brand new USB displays. I noticed that this also happens with the on-board HDMI output as well.

I recently picked myself up a Kensington SD5300t Thunderbolt 3 docking station thinking this maybe, JUST MAYBE, bypass this issue and of course it doesn't. I've reinstalled the Intel drivers & the NVIDIA drivers to get the flickering to stop. I know it's not related to the most recent update because it's been happening for over 2 years.

I noticed something new today though - the displays tend to only start acting up when there's a lot of deep blacks on the screen. If I change the app color settings to dark, the entire display shuts completely down until I close the settings reverting back to my desktop. It also happens on any webpages that have deep black/blue colors on them. I'm wondering if this long-standing issue is having to do with color issues and the on board GPU.

Does anyone know of any workarounds to this? I've read through a million forums and everything says either reinstall the drivers or wipe the computer.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue and Dell is not even trying to help. The customer support team is just ignoring my emails. Mine also glitches on white screen/bright colors.

I already tried using old drivers, recent drivers from Dell, the newest drivers from Intel and Nvidia, formatting the whole thing, using different external displays, mix-and-matching different BIOS settings (C-states, blocking sleep, disabling features etc.) and so on. Nothing helps. The only reliable way to continue using it is by disabling the external display entirely.

Dell reached out to me on private and then again refused to assist me on something that is clearly a serious, repetitive QC issue. Did you have any luck?
