XPS 15 9570, replace HDD with SSD

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing the 2.5" hdd with an ssd (Samsung 860 QVO 1TB). From these forums I've learned that it can be done but I was just wondering if anyone has advice on the process. Is there thermal tape or glue or anything that I have to worry about, or can I just unplug the hdd and plug the ssd in and it'll be right?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your model might have room for both a hard drive and a ssd. See the service manual for instructions--

If you just want to remove the 2.5" HDD and add a 2.5" SSD, it will be an easy swap.  But as Mary G said above, you could probably add an M.2 NVMe SSD instead.  Not only will that give you dual hard drives, but an NVMe SSD like the Samsung 970 Evo would be MUCH faster.
