XPS 17 9700 Windows 11 Pro
XPS 17 9700
Hi,
I am newbie and not the greatest computer wiz. Out of nowhere, my audio doesn't work ("No audio device is installed"). I did the troubleshooting etc. - no resolution. I went in device manager and it doesn't show any audio, only camera which works, no audio though.
Also, My Dell, SupportAssist and Automatic Driver Update will not work. I did the Fusion update, was no help. No virus or anything like that.
Does anybody has any ideas, please? Thanks in advance. Alex

That could be BIOS related. If the BIOS is not seeing the sound device then Windows will not.
Assuming no hardware failure:
Try a BIOS reset (note any customized settings before you do the reset as they will have to be reentered after the reset). Access the BIOS (F2 at power on) and when exiting one of the options is reset to factory.
If that doesn't fix it, a CMOS memory reset would be my next suggestion. That's a little more involved.

Hi,
Thank you. I had now time to do it, but unfortunately it didn't work.
