xps15 flashing yellow light

i use my laptop only into mains all the time but i used it without mains for first time and when i plug back in i get flashing yellow light and checked bios for battery and it is now telling me i need new battery,

struggling with this when i have only ever used this laptop on mains and have had battery set to only charge when it drops below 45%,

i done a support diagnostic test and it dosnt find fault but when i check in bios it says need new battery,

if i pull out power now the laptop cuts strait off so i am totally baffled with this as i haven't done more than 1 full charge cycle and im being told i need new battery ,

i check with CUPID hw monitor and it tells me 1% wear on battery

if anyone has any idea on this i would be great full

That's right about the lifespan of a Li-ion/polymer battery.

How old is the system?  Li-ion/polymer batteries start aging the moment they're made - if the battery is more than 18-24 months old, it is likely failing more from lack of use and sitting inside a hot system than it is of use.
