About me

Hello all. I'm a geeky type with a diverse and wandering background, wandering still. I like to know things.

--Passions (kind of personal, don't you think? lol): People, knowledge, making difficult things easy, not frustrating people! lol Architecture & Design. Public speaking. Video, digital video, 3D experimenting.

--Technologist forever with equal interests in Healthcare, Public Speaking, Management, People, Writing.

--Degrees & Uni: Mass Communication & Persuasion, Rhetoric (public speaking), Ethical Philosophy, Phenomenology, and Psychoeducational Development.

Last formal jobs:

--At Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (usually rated #1 Children's Hospital in U..S.), Director of Client Support and Training. end-user hardware (evaluate, purchase, install) on a modest scale (abt 13,000 employees, 3 states). We acquired Biomedical research center (abt. 500-1000 researchers & staff), same kinds of thing but more leadership.

Irony Break: Over the years have approved MANY thousands of Dell computers and other Dell equipment, but can not persuade Dell support Matrix to fix my home Dells after 2 years. Got through 5 levels of support (required before having an expediting COMMITTEE?) to evaluate requests even slightly out of the usual, but cut off again. Wow. Can't seem to get "Out of India." lol

Have Macs & Lenovos as well, so trying to think of comic context to throw 3 Dell computers either into ocean or off cliff, something like that, for YouTube. Could be fun. Back to work:

--Proposed major Web project to Board and was funded in $10-20 Million range. Became Executive Director of e-Transformation and New Technologies. Joined the Strategic Planning Committee.

--Website great fun -- ahead of its time at the time (lol). Hired 65 very varied people, including recruiters, writers, public relations & marketing, programmers, network, consumer validation. Site combined abt 13 legacy healthcare systems with Web to allow access to all major health, financial, and research services; included areas for hospitalized kids to create pesronal sites for parents & relatives, held physician info sessions -- doesn't sound like much now but the Board funded this in 1998 & we were up in 1999. Awarded "Best Healthcare Site on the Net" 6 or 7 years in a row.

--Left Philadelphia for San Diego. Took a few years off (voluntarily!), bought convertible, and enjoyed myself. Then became consultant, clients were political (Executive, Legislative and Judicial top folk), investment banks as a futurist, other Computer Support Companies, Ivy League finance, science, tech and communications departments. Bored many people. Formed ComputerConundrum, small personable company on a small, enjoyable scale. Very boutique; in fact, we sell the latest fashions! (just kidding there)

--Hobbies: Dancing, comitting myself to exercise one day, reading everything, beach, public speaking, trying to get people to take themselves less seriously, advocating for privacy in light of Government desire to see it all. And I mean everything!
