I am new to Avamar.

Can Avamar restore to a Simple Dynamic Disk? 

I am trying to troubleshoot why our Avamar will not restore a VM image to an existing VM.

Each time I attempt a restore, I receive the error code 10056. 

Error Code 10056 states:

avvcbimage FATAL <0000>: [IMG0019] The pre-existing snapshots from VMX… will not permit a restore.

avvcbimage Error <0000>: [IMG0009] createSnapshot: snapshot creation failed

Searching the Internet, DellEMC says:

The following virtual disk configurations are not supported:

·         Unformatted disks

·         Dynamic disks (Windows) / Multi-Drive Partitions (that is, any partition that

          consists of 2 or more virtual disks)

·         GUID Partition Table (GPT) disks

·         FAT16 file systems

·         FAT32 file systems

·         Deduplicated NTFS

·         Resilient File System (ReFS)

·         EFI bootloader

·         Extended partitions (Types: 05h, 0Fh, 85h, C5h, D5h)

·         Encrypted partitions

·         Compressed partitions

A simple volume is a dynamic volume made up of disk space from a single dynamic disk

The disk on VM targeted to be restored:

Layout	Simple	Simple
File System	NTFS	NTFS

So, are my restores failing because my disk drives on the targeted VM are set to Simple?
