Remove IP Interface from CIFS Server without Unjoin

I was reading through a previous discussion (https://community.emc.com/message/379899#379899) on how to convert from FSN to LACP. It was stated that we would have to unjoin and delete the CIFS server. From what I understood that was because there was no command to remove an interface from a CIFS server.

I've noticed that you can remove the interface in Unisphere. Would this be an OK alternative to steps 1 and 2 given in the other discussion and also 7 and 8?

1) Unjoin the CIFS server from the domain
2) Delete the CIFS server from Celerra

1_new) Remove Interface from CIFS Server (via GUI)
3) Delete the Interface (IP address) configured on the FSN device
4) Delete the FSN device
5) Create the new LACP Device
6) Create the Interface on the LACP device with same Interface name (if applicable) and IP Address

7_new) Add Interface to CIFS Server (via GUI)

7) Create the CIFS server with the same name

8) Join the CIFS server to the AD

that should work, it's nice that we can remove interfaces now ..could not do it before.

Yes, removing an interface from a CIFS server has been available for quite a while in Celerra Manager or UniSphere

The only caveat – we don’t allow you to remove the last remaining interface of a CIFS server since that would render it unavailable

Correction – I was just told that on VNX we would also allow to remove the last remaining interface of a CIFS server via UniSphere
