We want to virtualize the data domain in order to keep shrinking our hardware foot print. The only thing left which would be using data domain is our iSeries. It's using the VTL feature today. The iSeries is has a total of 4TB of data which includes the retention. The iSeries as far as I know can only use the VTL.
If you want to have a feature officially adopted, you'll want to submit an RFE, a Request for Enhancement to Dell engineering. This will create an engineering request with a trackable issue number. Your local sales team can assist in the process.
