Active pen PN579X not working

Hey,

I have a big problem with setting up an Active pen PN579X with my laptop Inspirion 5379. It has Support Active Pen sticker (I think... different language) but any driver "can't detect tablet"? I already downloaded bluetooth  and Win 10 Creators Update. The pen is connected but only buttons work. Tip is just not going to work...

Any ideas, please?

Under Windows, go to

Settings, System, About -- to see what it says under Pen and Touch

What description shows there?

The Dell Active Pen PN579X supports 2 inking modes: AES and MPP. The default inking mode of the pen is AES. Inspiron uses the MPP inking mode.

Follow these steps to switch the inking mode of the pen from AES to MPP.

  1. Press both the Bottom Barrel button and Top Barrel button briefly to indicate the current inking mode.

  2. If the current inking mode is AES, press and hold both Bottom Barrel button and Top Barrel button for 2 seconds to switch to MPP mode.
  3. Repeat step 1 to confirm that the inking mode has switched to MPP.

"Support for stylus and touch control with 10 touch points"

I tried that, nothing happened. (I mean, it switched but the screen doesn't reply to touches with the pen)

If you're SURE you've switched it (press both the buttons together at the same time),

maybe try to update the driver of the pen from:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-active-pen-pn579x/drivers

the "Dell Active Pen PN579X Bluetooth Firmware Updater" one.

I'm pretty sure this was the one that worked for me, cuz lots of other drivers were giving errors

both steps helped me out,

thanks @AdrianG001 very much

I'm not sure if the driver is necessary tho

Good luck!

Hi!

I have same issue. I have a Inspiron 5482 (P93G) and Win11 installed.

I have tried switching to MPP, but still cannot make it work. Batteries are brand new and the pen is already connected. I don't know what else to do. Please help!
