Hello. I apologize if this has been answered before but I can't find a clear explanation to help in my current situation. I offered to repair a coworkers laptop. The original hard drive is damaged and needs to be replaced. I want to replace it with a new SSD. The issue I'm trying to get a clear answer on is the OS is currently Windows 10 and it appears to have been upgraded from the original preinstalled OS of Windows 8. What is the procedure I must follow to get this laptop running again? I already searched for a recovery OS on Dell's website however none appears to exist. Customer chat support told me to get a new laptop. Is that correct? Is there no way to do this? I won't have him buy a hard drive if that can't be done. Thank you.
