What is the recommended windows for latitude E5500 dual core, 64bit operating system?

    Windows 7 is recommended judging by your driver support page.

    Windows 10 should be no problem.

    Upgrading the CPU, Memory and SSD can extend the life of the laptop another 5+ years.

    As laptops go that is a very old system approaching 14 years. The support page states that the E5500 is not compatible with Windows 10 as there are no drivers from Dell available. The only Windows versions that are listed on that support page are all no longer supported by Microsoft. This is the time to seriously consider replacing the laptop with a new considerably faster laptop with a modern operating system.

    @King wonders  - The specs say the Latitude E5500 has a max of 4 GB of RAM. So even though it may run Win 10 64-bit, it's probably going to be painfully slow...
