Broken Hinge

Totally disgusted with Dell right now.   I have a laptop where my warranty expires in February of 2020.   This laptop sits in a Notebook Cart.   The cover can maybe move 2 to 3 inches, so it's not like there is excessive wear and tear...…

One of the Nurses called us (IT Department) and told us the screen was cracked.   She had attempted to open the cover an inch or so, just to adjust it to her viewing angle and the screen cracked.   When we pulled the laptop out of the cart, we noticed that the Hinge was coming apart.   It was the strain from the broken hinge that cracked the screen.    I called Dell to see about support for this, but they call it normal wear and tear won't cover it.

I went and checked out all the rest of the newer laptops that we have and noticed that 80% of them had some level of hinge problems.   The hinges are opening up!    Upon research, it looks like this has been going on for some time and Dell isn't owning up to it.    They call it normal wear and tear.    This isn't normal wear and tear, this is a design problem or a manufacturing problem.    Maybe it's time to move on to a different Brand of Laptops/computers for our Hospital!
