Latitude E7270 Battery not installed
Yesterday I booted up my Latitude after not using it for over a month and it was slow to boot. When I connected the AC it booted normally but showed the "battery not installed" on the battery icon. I have tried all the suggested fixes, disconnecting the battery and holding down the power button, changing ac adapters etc, but still the same. Amber led flashes 4 amber 1 white when connected with laptop off, then goes to amber flashes only. Laptop will still run if AC disconnected, but runs really slow. Spoke to support, and they have not heard of a laptop the continues to run when AC removed when indicating battery not present. I am happy to purchase another battery but don't want to go down the wrong path. Dell still have replacement batteries listed and I can add it to the cart, so hopefully I can install a genuine battery. Will after market batteries work properly or are they a risk?

3 and 1 indicates a CMOS battery failure. Purchase a new one from a retailer and replace it. When you do make sure you leave the battery out for at least 15 minutes before installing the new one. The procedure can be found here. At almost 5 years old it is possible that the laptop battery is getting weak and needs replacement. The batteries can be found here and make sure you get a genuine Dell OEM battery.

Update, I have replaced the battery, updated the bios and tried 3 different chargers. The chargers are recognized in the bios correctly. The Latitude will operate on the battery but the cpu drops to 0.26GHz. There is no way of knowing if the battery is charging as the battery icon just indicates battery not installed. There is no battery shown in the bios and when the ac adapter is connected the light flashes 3 yellow 1 white. Could the cmos battery have any effect on this? There seems to be no symptom of bios settings not being remembered. I have tried all suggested things that seem to work for other users but nothing has worked for me.I am getting to the point of just replacing the Latitude. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I did replace the main battery with a genuine Dell battery, but the problem still exists. I will try a new cmos battery. Could the cmos battery contribute to the main battery now being being seen by the bios?

Found out what was wrong with mine, somehow the charging port was loose so I had to pull it to the opening and tighten it
