Adding RAM question

I have an XPS Gen3 system with 1GB of RAM.  I want to increase system RAM to 2GB.

The modules installed are

Dual in-line DDR2- 512MBx2 Speed: 533M

They are installed in memory slots 1and 2 in what are supposed to be a 'matched set'.  This leaves slots 3 and 4 available.  My quesions are:

  1. If I was to install a 1GB DDR2 module.  Can this single module be installed in slot 3 only or must both slots be filled?
  2. There is not a Dell 1GB module listed (in Canada) for my PC and I am loath to use another brand.
  3. If I order 2 of the listed 512GB (PC2 4200) modules matching specs for my machine, will they come as a 'matched pair'?  The manual goes into detail on this aspect.

Since I have purchased an extended warranty I would be foolish to not buy Dell RAM, which is covered by the warranty, would'nt I?
