Memory checking or diagnoses

Hi everyone,

I own a Dell XPS with 1GB of memory. I periodically run in to a blue screen (Win XP Home) right in the middle of some application or software. It always refers to some kind of memory problem. Someone suggested to check the memory chips to see if I have any bad ones. Does anyone know a diagnostic tool to check these out? I don't appear to have a diagnostic CD like I did with my previous 8100.

I have searched all over the support site but can't find any reference.

Many Thanks,

Con

    kboy,

You do have Dell Diagnostics on the "drivers and utilities CD" (Dell Dimension Resource CD).  Also, your system supports hyperthreading.  Some applications do not work well with hyperthreading enabled.  You can turn it off in BIOS.  Check this link for info on the settings available in your system BIOS:

Thanks Steve for the help. I'll try your advise. By the way, my hyperthreading is disabled.

    Take Care,

    kboy,

Can you post the exact error message that you are getting and tell us what programs are running when you get this error message?
