I just received my 8300 XPS today. Right out of the box, on the very first power up I had problems. It says it is setting up for the first time and then goes to a command prompt. In order for me to get it to the desktop, I have to wait for it to go through a command prompt run and then type "desktop". It does this every time it restarts. I checked through some of the logs and ran across one that even stated two warnings during the OS install. I can't believe this wasn't checked closer before shipping and am very disappointed with this system. One tech I contacted decided to disable all my devices and then reboot my comp. That didn't go well. Glad I remembered my DOS commands. Typed MSCONFIG and enabled all to get it running again. The second tech thinks the hard drive is bad and is sending me one with the OS installed and the backup disks. All test on this thing pass fine. Wonderful! But I have to send the defective one back and if it gets "damaged" during shipping it's my fault! I should send the whole thing back!

Can anyone tell me what TAL.BAT does? Apparently Dell doesn't know, or at least in India they don't and what can be done to correct the problem?
